The world's most powerful passport

According to Passport Index 2017’s rankings, German citizens are holding the most powerful passport, Singapore is ranked second at the same position with Sweden.

With the vise-free score of 159, Germany is ranked top of the list in the global ranking of passport power by Passport Index 2017.

Singapore and Sweden are both ranked second with the visa-free score of 158. Denmark, Finland, Italy, France, Spain, Norway, the UK, South Korea and the US are all ranked third with the visa-free score of 157.

Singapore has rised one level up in rank compared to last year, overtaken South Korea and become the most powerful Asian passport. Vietnam is ranked 77^th with the visa-free score of 49, at the same position with Cambodia, Guinea-bissau, Chad and Turkmenistan.

The lowest positions belong to Afghanistan (ranked 93^rd  – score 24), Pakistan (ranked 92^nd –score 27) and Iraq (ranked 91^st- score 28).

The rankings is made based on the visa-free score of each passport. This score is calculated according to the number of nations that the passport owner is allowed to enter without a visa or with a visa on arrival; and the Human Development Index (HDI) of the United Nations Development Programme is used as bonus point.

Passport Index is the rankings made by the financial advisory firm Arton Capital using statistics from 193 nations and territories.

Last year, in another ranking of global passports, Germany was also ranked first with the number of 177 countries out of the total of 218 countries that the citizens of this country may enter without a visa.
