The attraction of fruit orchards in the Southwest Vietnam

To the Southwest Vietnam, you will be lost in a world of various kinds of delicious fruits in abundant quantity: durian, orange, rambutan, jackfruit, pomelo, coconut, mango, Vietnamese plum. There are many fruit orchards in the region of Vietnam but the most favorite and largest ones are: Cai Be, Vinh Kim, Cai Mon,  Vinh Long and My Khanh.

In the Southwest Vietnam the weather is quite nice with sunshine all around the year, so whenever visitors pay a visit to this region of Vietnam, they can also admire the scenic beauty of it. The region has different shades of beauty in different seasons.

However, if you love to discover fruit orchards, summer (June, July and August) -which is normally the season of ripe fruits in the Southwest Vietnam- is the ideal time for your visit.

Destinations that visitors should not miss

Depending on seasons and time, there are different kinds of fruits in orchards. However, summer (from June to August) is normally the season that various kinds of fruits start to get ripe. If you come to the Southwest Vietnam during this time, you may pay a visit to the following well-known fruit orchards:

Cai Be orchard (Tien Giang)

To speak of orchards in Tien Giang is to speak of Cai Be orchard. Situated 70 kilometers away from Sai Gon, Cai Be orchard lies along the north bank of Tien River, Cai Be district. Cai Be is not only one of the largest “fruit baskets” of Mekong River Delta but also a destination that many tourists wish to stop by for its diverse famous delicious tropical fruits such as mango, pomelo, longan, orange, guava, jujube, tangerine, jackfruit, plum,etc.

Coming to Cai Be orchard, apart from seeing trees overwhelmed by ripe fruits above with your own eyes, you can also enjoy the delicious tastes of the fruits in there. Compared to other orchards in the Southwest Vietnam, Cai Be orchard is considered as the most diverse one with fruits in all seasons; in different  seasons, there are different typical types of fruit. Therefore, in whatever season tourists come, there are always plenty of delicious fresh fruits.

Vinh Kim orchard (Tien Giang)

Whenever talking about Vinh Kim (a village in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province), people usually think of Lo Ren milk fruit, which has sweet and pleasant flavour. In addition to Lo Ren milk fruit, tourists can also enjoy other delicious fruits such as durian, rabutan, pomelo.

Cai Mon orchard (Ben Tre)

Cai Mon fruit orchard is located at Vinh Thanh village, Cho Lach district, Ben Tre province. It is one of the largest orchards in the Southwest Vietnam and was recognized as the largest area of fruit cultivation in Vietnam by Vietnam Guinness Book of Records. Cai Mon’s fruit orchards are surrounded by rivers originating from Co Chien river and Ham Luong river, therefore the weather is mild around the year, and the plants all grow very well.

To Cai Mon, you should not forget to try Cai Mon durian, Hai Hoa green grapefruit, and Chin Hoa flat seed durian, which are famous delicious fruits of this region.

Vinh Long orchard

Vinh Long has been well-known for its fruit orchards available through four seasons around the year. Visitors may drop by any time of the year, but the best time to see ripe rambutans is from May to July when rambutans are ready to be harvested. Vinh Long is also famous for Tam Binh king orange, durian, mango and so on.

My Khanh orchard (Can Tho)

From Can Tho city, if you drive along the National Route 1 to Soc Trang, when you nearly reach Cai Rang bridge, turn to the right and keep going for about 6 kilomters, you will arrive My Khanh tourist garden – a very famous orchard in the Soutwest Vietnam.

They intercrop over 20 kinds of fruits including plum, mango, rambutan, jackfruit, durian. Those trees are always healthy and produce plenty tasty fruits. Coming to My Khanh, apart from enjoying fruits, you can feel refeshed and pleasant in the comfortable atmosphere of nature.
