Pac Bo, more than just a Vietnam national special relic site

Amazingly pure blue flows of stream surrounded by primeval forests overwhelm large stones, which completely impresses every one who come to this place for the first time and make them think that they are lost in a wonderland.

The four-line poem of Ho Chi Minh (as I unsophisticatedly translated into English above) originally named "Tức cảnh Pác Bó" (sudden feelings arising while admiring Pac Bo scenery) drives us to recall the life of the revolutionary leader and the wild and unspoiled beauty of the highland Tay Bac.

Pac Bo is located in Truong Ha village, Cao Bang province and until now, it has been known as a national historical relic. However, recently, Pac Bo has become the name that is actively advertized by the local people for its natural beauty which people did not think of when referring to it in the past.

Pac Bo relics consist of Coc Bo cave – where Ho Chi Minh President lived and worked as soon as he had returned from overseas in 1941. Besides, there are other names associated with Pac Bo cave such as Lenin stream, Karl Marx mountain, Bo Bam cave, Co Rac Ground, Nam stream (where Ho Chi Minh President himself trained officials and organized many important meetings of Central Committee).

Pac Bo relic area is situated 52 kilometers north of the central of Cao Bang city and is the starting point of Ho Chi Minh Highway (km 0). If you drive along the provincial road 203, you can reach Truong Ha village.

Lenin stream

People even compare Pac Bo with Jiuzhaigou (a famous tourist attraction of China known for its stunning scenery) for its pure blue water, wild trees, fresh air, peaceful and quiet atmosphere like you can only see in a wonderland. Photo: linhlala   

If you have just heard the name (not visited the place yet), most of people may imagine it as a historical relic with a lot of historical and cultural descriptions which seem boring. But once walking to this place or looking at it through photos, you will be immediately overwhelmed and lured by the beauty of the scenery.

Walking on mossy stones along the stream – where Uncle Ho worked and fished – you will see a wooden bridge crossing over the stream right in front of Coc Bo cave’s door. This is the place of origin of Lenin stream. From far distance, Pac Bo cave appears before your eyes beside a rugged rock mountain.
