High-water season in the Southwest Vietnam

While summer is the ideal time to visit fruit orchards in the Southwest Vietnam, high-water season is the perfect time to admire another shade of wild and stunning beauty of the land: floating village, melaleuca forests, and lagoons, which are typical features of this region.

Tan Lap floating village or Tan Lap melaleuca forest is located in Moc Hoa district, Long An province, and is about 100 kilometers away from central Ho Chi Minh City. The way to this floating village is quite  easy to follow. Coming there, you will be lost in the fairy land with sunshine through the trees, murmuring leaves, and singing birds. The best time to visit Tan Lap floating village is in October and November because this is the season of blooming lotus, you can feel the scent of this pure flower.

Tra Su melaleuca forest (An Giang)

Located about 30 km from Chau Doc city, Tra Su melaleuca forest is considered as the most typical and unique natural habitat conservation area of the wetland ecosystem in Mekong River Delta. The time when melaleuca forests are the most beautiful is in high-water season (from September to November every year). You can see pistia form a green carpet on the water surface; and hear the sounds of stirring oars, singing birds, and swiming fish. Those sounds gently disturb the quiet atmosphere of the green forest.

Bung Binh Thien (An Giang)

Located in a distance of about 30 kilometers from Chau Doc, in An Phu district, An Giang province (adjacent to the Vietnam –Cambodia border), Bung Binh Thien is also called by another name – the Peaceful Lake of heaven. In high-water season, people can admire the romantic scenery of this heavenly natural lake with blur image of boats appearing behind the morning fog or in the sunrise light.

Ta Pa rice paddies are situated in Tri Ton district (An Giang). From far distance, the rice paddies appear in fresh green color, with ranges of palm trees standing under the blue sky. In high-water season if you look down from high above, you can see Ta Pao is like a huge rug in the green color of rice trees, spotted with very tall palm trees.

Every year, when the water level raises, Tram Chim is covered with new colorful cloth and becomes so lively in the dances of nature. Instead of choosing the dawn as the time to start your journey of discovering Tram Chim National Park like many people, you can begin it from the afternoon to enjoy the wonderful scenery. In addition, high-water season is also the time when lotus blooms everywhere, so sitting on a boat in the middle of the lotus field, you can feel such amazingly stunning beauty of the large lotus field there.

Thi Tuong Lagoon (Ca Mau)

Thi Tuong Lagoon (or Ba Tuong lagoon) is one of the largest natural lagoons in Mekong River Delta. It is enriched by the alluvium from My Binh river, Ong Doc river and many canals of three districts Phu Tan, Tran Van Thoi and Cai Nuoc. Thi Tuong Lagoon is situated between Phu Tan district and Tran Van Thoi district in Ca Mau province. Its scenery is described as a romantic watercolor painting, especially in the mornings and at sunsets.
